VX8500 Wallpaper and Video Wallpaper Template

Wallpaper designers usually take into account the overall size limitations of the VX8500 screen (240x275 pixels). However, there are other considerations. The standard clock setting overlays a semi-transparent 240x22 pixel bar displaying the date and time at the bottom of the screen. The clock will obscure your artwork, so you must remember to account for it.

There are other rectangular overlays on the screen that identify the functions of the side buttons. They aren't as obtrusive as the clock, but you may want to be aware of their existence when designing a wallpaper.

You shouldn't worry about the ERI banner at the top. (It's the one that contains the annoying "Verizon Wireless" message.) Most people turn it off.

Template

I have developed a template you can use to identify how your wallpaper will look on the phone before uploading it. The first one marks all of the "obstructions" on the phone in red. The blue border is there for contrast to prove we hit all of the areas perfectly.

I took the red areas and filled them with black at 30% opacity in PhotoShop (and removed the blue borders). I saved the result as an alpha-blended PNG file:

You can save this file and pop it into your graphics program of choice as a new layer. (By the way, Internet Explorer users won't be able to see the alpha-blending effect. Trust me, it's there.)
